There are certain properties in which are only available for purchase by those who have been living in Gibraltar for a continuous period of 3 years. These properties consist of those which were constructed with Gibraltar Government funding, built specifically as affordable housing, or those which were previously Government owned properties but have since been released to the private market for private ownership. These properties have certain restrictions on them as a consequence, one being that letting is strictly prohibited. However, not all properties have the same restrictive covenants so it is advisable to check first with your estate agent before making any decisions.
Is able to demonstrate continual residency in Gibraltar for the 3 years leading up to purchase to the relevant Government authorities. This is applicable to all persons stated on the purchase agreement. The purchaser's solicitor/conveyancer will ordinarily complete the appliation for consent from Government at the time of sale "subject to contract".
